by G Mclean (Edinburgh) on 4 September 2012Sometimes you are taken aback by customer service, unfortunately it's not always for the right reasons. I phoned up these guys to ask for a quote on colour copy of a poster, slightly larger than A3. I was quoted between 5 and 10 quid. I went to the shop and spoke to the gentleman I had spoken to on the phone, who was very pleasant. As I was speaking to him he said that he would have to scan my document twice to print, that it would be fine and... At this point a Spanish gentleman named Victor barged - literally and figuratively- into the conversation. He spoke in an extremely abrasive manner noting that the quote was wrong and that I would have to pay £30 for the job. I was shocked by his manner and quote. I explained I had had an A2 poster copied full colour high quality a day previously at the The Copy Shop on The Pleasance. He literally laughed in my face and told me that I was wrong! At this point I took my poster back and asked for the manager. I also noted that in Scotland his behaviour was not would be considered appropriate in public nor as customer service. Again, he laughed in my face and shoved past me, given his diminutive and aggressive stature I presume this was to assert some form of dominance, and then totally blanked me as he went about his work. I asked to speak to the manager- he laughed out loud from across the shop, and his helpful colleague gave me his card and told me to phone back. Two days I went in to speak to the manager who was not there. I explained my situation to another individual who was helpful and friendly. AGAIN, Victor the would be bull fighter, began to laugh and strut around being totally dismissive. At this point I left. Two hours later I managed to get Stuart, one of the main managers on the phone, very helpful. I went in the next morning to speak to the manager and met his colleague who was also a manager. I explained my situation as outlined above. I was told that Victor had a 'Spanish Manner'. I noted that he was not in Spain and that his service was not on. I was then told that he could not make Victor apologise or acknowledge what he did. I stated that this was not satsifactory and that I was now prepared to publish a review of my customer 'service' online. I was told that this was a 'threat', ushered out of the shop and then as the door was closed behind me, told again on the street 'not to threaten me like that again'. Two days earlier I had gone to the Copy Shop on The Pleasance. The service was quick, extremely helpful and friendly and of a very high standard. As a writer/proofreader a large sections of my work will now go there in future. It is a 3 mile cycle from my house, but worth every inch. I would recommend others do the same- they have a much wider range of facilities and much nicer staff. (2/5)
