Suffering with dreadful toothache I was referred to this practise by NHS24. On arrival all the staff were fantastic and helpful. It was decided to extract my wisdom tooth. The dentist and her nurse would fantastic and explained the procedure beforehand. The were very gentle but got the job done. Not a fan of dentists but this experience has changed my mind (5/5)

If you have a dental emergency after 6pm your in big trouble as their is no care after 6 o'clock as all emergency calls now have to go through the 111 service who can take three hours to phone you back by which time the emergency service is finished so all they can do is tell you to take a paracetamol. If you have blood poisoning from a dental emergency well your going to die. In 2015 (2/5)

I came up to Edinburgh to pet sit on a Sunday and on the previous Friday evening my crown came out. As it is at the front of my mouth it was important that I have it put back ASAP. I could not get access to a dentist on the Friday evening or Staurday and so come up to Edinburgh with a big gap in my front teeth. On the Mornday morning I rang Chalmers Street Dental Clinic and explained my problem. The lady I spoke to advised me to come into the centre as soon as possible and a Triage Nurse would examine me and advise what could be done. I arrived at the centre about 10.30, was seen by the nurse in about 20-30 minutes. She told me that the dentist would put my crown back, but obviously patients with more serious problems, suffering pain, would be given priority. She gave me an appointment for 12.30 which I thought was great. I returned was seen by the dentist who replaced the crown and advised me to see my own dentist as soon as I returned home. The fee I paid was very little and all in all I think service is fantastic. Everyone from the receptionist through to the dentist were extremely polite, helpful and reassuring. THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE (5/5)

I've just come back from a tooth extraction by the amazing staff at Chalmers and feel brilliant. Having had appalling toothache on and off for weeks, I was told by my dentist that I had a choice of root canal treatment at £1500 or extraction and implant for £2000. I went away to consider how I could possibly pay for either and in the meantime my toothache cam back with a vengeance. I visited Chalmers, the reception staff were lovely, and the dentist and assistant were amazing. The gave me a choice of treatments and I went for the extraction having established that you can't see the tooth in question when I smile. They advised me that root canal treatment at an NHS dentist should cost a fraction of what I was quoted by my dentist. The extraction was quick and painless despite being for a very large and crumbly tooth. They were friendly, kind and reassuring, while I was being a complete coward. I am pain free and my wallet has also been saved considerable pain had I followed bad advise previously. They really are brilliant and I would recommend them highly. (5/5)

I shall try and condense this, rather than overdo it on the detail (my natural tendency in bestowing genuine praise). Suffice to say that I required attention on a Saturday, having put the inevitable off for several days in some vague, unrealistic and overly optimistic hope that my wisdom tooth gum infection would just heal itself somehow. Having gone through NHS 24 and then the telephone triage system at 9.00 a.m. I was given an appointment for that evening. Seen within five minutes of the time originally stated, treated courteously, kindly and respectfully by all, from the Security Guard/Concierge to the Receptionist to the Nurse and Dentist. Not made to feel any more of a wuss than I already did (there was a roughly nine year old kid out front waiting that looked like his top lip was torn asunder - making no fuss whatsoever - and an elderly gentleman with severe bleeding similarly courageous - I felt like the worst kind of hypochondriac wimp going and quite possibly am) but was swiftly and considerately cleaned up and given the necessary antibiotics. Cannot praise the staff and their manner highly enough. I'd truthfully offer five stars on this showing, but the system requests that you do not. On this evidence they have a very well trained, organised and skilled team doing an invaluable job. As with the 'emergency services proper' it's hoped that you will never require their assistance, but welcome to know that the resource exists. Many thanks. DL. (4/5)

I was having pain in my tooth for the last two days, and was on paracetamol as I am pregnant. My husband took me to Chalmers dental care as we are not registered with any dental surgery. I was first seen by a nurse who assessed my situation and gave me an appointment two hours later. When we went to meet the doctor after two hours, he took his time in examining the acing tooth and suggested the root be extracted. I was apprehensive as I am pregnant and don't want the anesthetic to affect my baby. the doctor tried to convince me by saying that they do it all the time on pregnant women, and its perfectly safe. When he saw me in dilemma, he called his colleague DR. Jennifer to consult the matter. After examining me, she also suggested to get the tooth extracted instead of risking taking painkillers on and off for next 6 months. After I was convinced, the doctor asked me when I wanted the procedure and I suggested to go ahead immediately and he agreed. The whole procedure of tooth extraction was with supreme professionalism and perfection. The nurse Louise was also very helpful. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the doctor who extracted the tooth and later showed me the infected root which could have been a cause of great worry in later pregnancy. I think his name was Andy. I will be going again in a day or two as the pain isn't going away and he had asked to me to come if I feel least bit uncomfortable. I will give a thumbs up to Chalmers Dental Care. (4/5)
